Clinical microbiology is a diverse field which deals with the microbes in day to life and its clinical importance. It is a clinical based study of microorganisms like bacteria, virus, fungus, parasites and its molecular analysis for epidemiological surveillance also. It also deals with hospital infection control, Central sterile supply department which caters to supply of sterilized items to the entire hospital apart from day to day reporting of clinical samples.
Department is well equipped with modern facilities for academic and research purpose.
We the faculty of Clinical Microbiology Department strive and emphasize on infection control practices and conduct antibiotic stewardship program to curb the pandemic of antibiotic resistance next to covid-19, under the esteemed guidance of Dr. Sharada C Metgud Professor and Head, department of clinical microbiology.
we work with full zeal to attain the following goals:
- To be an outstanding department providing high quality diagnostics, education and research services to meet ever changing global needs.
- To provide essential knowledge and skills in basic and applied microbiology so that the students can correlate the natural history, clinical manifestation of infectious disease and apply proper infection control measures and render appropriate treatment in the community.
