ABOUT CENTRAL LIBRARY

The primary aim of the KAHER JGM Medical College Central Library is to develop, organize, preserve and deliver information and scholarly resources to its community. The library is two-storied, built over an area of about 10380.04 sq ft. with a reference section, Digital Library, internet and Wi-Fi facility. The whole Library is under the surveillance of CCTV.

Central Library presently has a collection of 5000+ books covering subjects such as Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Forensic and Community Medicine, Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology and clinical facilities. It subscribed to 40 peer-reviewed international and national journals covering the above-mentioned subject areas.

Central Library provides access to around 2600 online journals. It has access to the full-text database ProQuest. Central Library also subscribes to magazines and newspapers of general interest. bound volumes of old journals are persevered in the library. KAHER’s JGMMC Institutional Repository is the digital archive of the research output of the faculties under various disciplines of Medicine. It also includes university exam Question Papers from previous years.

The services of the library are fully automated with Koha Software and automation covers the entire scope of library activities such as acquisition, cataloging, circulation with provision for renewals, reservation, serial control, Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) for searching the books and generating various types of Reports and statistics. Central Library provides reference services, photocopying and inter-library loan.

The Library Reference section is open for users from 9.00 am to 9.00 pm on all working days. The staffs working in the library are well qualified and service-oriented. There are two working shifts. Purified drinking water and washroom facilities are available.
